Day 4 7/15/2013

Today we met an environmental lawyer his name was Howard Arnett. Howard works at karnopp Petersen LLP. Howard informed us about the fish issues in in the rivers mainly in warm springs.  Howard’s presentation said there is 10 million acre “ceded area” in north central Oregon. There is 650,000 careers, 98% trust land. 5,300 enrolled members 80% live on or near the reservation. The Deschutes River forms eastern boundary of the reservation. Howard also mentioned river flow is 90% from ground water rather than run off water. They said that the highest peaking was in the mornings and night. There is 3 powerhouses and dams first is the one they built in 1957 called the pelton dam. The next dam and power house was built in 1964 it called round butte. The final dam and power house was built in 1982 it called regulation dam. He also mentioned a 90million dollar fish tower. The rest of our day we cooked and had some down time to write out our blogs on word.
